Last month, my wife and I stayed overnight in New Orleans waiting to board our cruise. We opted for Cafe Beignet over Cafe du Monde as well. We knew the lines would be ridiculous. We find Cafe Beignet actually has better food overall.
Let the tourist stand in line all day.

Good question. Who knows. Around central Texas in October you often find people having “Oktoberfest” events. So it’s just become kind of traditional to seek one out. There’s also one event that spans into November called “Wurstfest” in New Braunfels south of Austin. It’s been going on for years. Anyway, I hadn’t been to any yet and was feeling the need for some good schnitzel or bratwurst.
